Thrive Gardens

Thrive Gardens is a new project sponsored by the Bond Pacific Foundation. It is a nonprofit startup that is focused on bringing the community together to grow fresh produce to donate to local organizations in need. Though our focus is on growing food we are more than a garden. We are a community center that brings neighbors together through educational experiences, art and culture events and simple organic cafe cuisine.

Alaska is considered an extreme food environment when it comes to growing food. 95% of food is shipped in from the Lower 48. Food banks and shelters have access to plenty of processed goods but are limited in their supply of fresh food. It is our goal to encourage na inspire people in our community to grow their own food. Additionally we hope to supplement the produce needs of organizations in our community with food that our garden members have grown on our property.

Mission

Thrive Gardens' mission is to create a welcoming environment where out community can come together to share in educational experiences, cultural and artistic events and collaborate to grow fresh local food to donate to our neighbors in need.

our vision

We desire to create a space for our community members where everyone will feel welcome and safe. Thrive's doors are open to everyone regardless of background. We pride ourselves on being an oasis of openness, celebrating diversity and treating everyone with kindness and respect.

Education

The garden will be open for a variety of learning opportunities.  These include, but are not limited to, field trips, classes and mentoring opportunities.  Classes will be held in our community room or outdoors in the garden.

thrive cafe

Thrive Cafe will offer healthy vegetarian and vegan based beverages and cuisine sourced from fresh, local and organic products.  The menu will be simple and is intended to cater to our local community and using seasonal local produce as available. The cafe will only use reusable dish ware to avoid creating unnecessary waste. The cafe will have a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that invites community members to enjoy and relax while spending time with family and friends or independently.

Art and Culture

Thrive is more than a garden.  We aim to be a space for community members to come and share time together.  We hope to serve the residents of our community by providing a safe place to spend an afternoon with their families.  We will organize small cultural events such as film screenings, workshops (cooking and gardening) with local specialists and various types of slideshows and talks (travel, inspirational).
